This event, organized by the Global Health Alliance in collaboration with People in Action, aims to create a safe and welcoming space for community members to voice their questions and concerns regarding pregnancies and maternal health outcomes.

This interactive session will feature a panel of five experienced OBGYN doctors from across Minnesota, alongside a midwife and a nurse practitioner specializing in women&#8217;s health. Together, they will address pressing questions from the community, covering essential topics such as pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum care, mental health, preventative measures and hormones transition in women&#8217;s life span.&nbsp;&nbsp;



We encourage community members to participate actively, share their experiences, and ask questions that matter most to them. This is a unique opportunity to bridge knowledge gaps and foster a supportive environment for Somali mothers and families.

Upcoming Community Event: Empowering Somali Women’s Health

The Global Health Alliance is enhancing healthcare delivery in Somalia through the integration of DynaMed, a clinical decision support tool, into local healthcare systems. This initiative, made possible through a collaborative donation with Kids Care Everywhere—a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing DynaMed software internationally—will improve patient outcomes by providing healthcare providers with point-of-care access to evidence-based information.



Kids Care Everywhere works to enhance healthcare systems globally by providing clinicians in under-resourced health systems with the most current evidence-based medical information using DynaMed, the world&#8217;s leading clinical decision-support software.



Key benefits of this integration include:



&#8211; Real-Time Alerts: DynaMed will offer timely reminders about best practices and patient safety.



&#8211; Education and Training: Continuous medical education for providers and support for residents and medical students, ensuring they stay updated with the latest advancements.



&#8211; Standardized Care Protocols: Development of uniform care protocols to ensure high-quality treatment for all patients.



&#8211; Quality Improvement: Tracking adherence to evidence-based guidelines to enhance overall care quality.

This collaboration with KidsCare Everywhere will play a pivotal role in the ongoing telemedicine expansion in Somalia, ultimately improving healthcare accessibility and outcomes.

GHA Expands Telemedicine Program in Somalia

Over the past two years, our collaboration with Hennepin County Medical Health has made a significant impact on healthcare delivery in Somalia. Through their generous donations of salvageable and used medical equipment, we have successfully delivered essential resources to several hospitals in regions within Somalia.&nbsp;



This partnership has allowed us to enhance healthcare access and quality, with notable deliveries taking place in August 2022 and May 2023. Most recently, in October 2024, we were able to deliver equipment as part of our current medical training program hosted in Somalia.



We are immensely grateful to Hennepin County Medical Health for their unwavering commitment to improving global health. Together, we aspire to inspire other hospitals to join this crucial initiative, fostering a collective effort to enhance healthcare outcomes worldwide. Our shared dedication to improving health internationally remains strong, and we look forward to expanding our collaboration for the benefit of communities in need.

Strengthening Global Health: Partnership with Hennepin County Medical Health

(Minneapolis, MN) &#8212; HealtheMed, an innovative healthcare solutions that launched the na on’s first integrated in-home digital system of care for people receiving services through a Medicaid waiver, recently announced a partnership with Global Health Alliance (GHA), a Minnesota-based non-profit that provides health services to the African and Somali communi es, helping them tackle dispari es and inequity in healthcare. 



HealtheMed was awarded a $100,000 grant from Hennepin County Department of Human Services and Public Health to serve 40-50 African and Somali households in select ci es that include Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and Columbia Heights through November 2024. In partnership with GHA, HealtheMed’s Clinic@HomeTM technology platform will be installed in the homes of Medicaid waivered clients to meet their unique health needs. 



The grant and partnership allow clients to receive a culturally competent team that will help them navigate their health journey, a pla orm that creates virtual access to primary care, behavioral health, and/or maternal health providers, and proactive monitoring to improve health outcomes. Health outcomes will be measured and reported to Hennepin County Public Health on a quarterly basis.

This partnership aligns with Hennepin County’s mission to reduce dispari es and eliminate inequi es,” says Veronica Schulz, Hennepin County Public Health’s Community Health &amp; Strategic Initiatives Area Manager. “We have awarded funding to support their Clinic@HomeTM health care access model in order to support the health of our Somali and African communities.”
