Accomplishments

Global

Collaborated with Gol-nugaal Hospital in Garowe, Somalia, where I played a pivotal role in the establishment of a state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a maternity ward. Contributed by procuring essential hospital equipment, ensuring that the facility now adheres to established medical standards. This initiative not only improved the hospital's capabilities but also enhanced healthcare services for the community.

Established a meaningful partnership with the World Health Organization, fostering collaboration and exchange of resources to further strengthen healthcare initiatives in the region.

Crafted comprehensive training materials and successfully conducted fundraising activities for upcoming medical mission trips scheduled for May and October 2024. As part of these efforts, introduced DynaMed, a cutting-edge medical software program, to enhance medical education and practices at Gol-nugaal Hospital and medical schools across the Puntland region in Somalia.

Forged a strategic alliance with Allina to secure used hospital equipment, including beds, and medical supplies. These generous donations are earmarked for distribution to hospitals and clinics in Somalia during Global Health Alliance (GHA) mission trips, contributing to the improvement of healthcare infrastructure in underserved areas.

Local

Successfully secured approval for a Hennepin County public health grant in collaboration with HealtheMed, highlighting a grant focus on chronic medical condition management within an established clinic-at-home program. Demonstrated Global Health Alliance's commitment to cultural and language competency, ensuring effective service delivery for the diverse Medicaid population in Hennepin County.

Established crucial clinical relationships with prominent healthcare institutions like Hennepin Healthcare and Allina, facilitating seamless referral and culturally responsive care management. Achieved local goals through comprehensive training programs, elevating awareness among existing providers about culturally appropriate services and establishing a pathway for new providers from targeted populations. Successfully initiated efforts to create new funding resources for Community Health Workers (CHWs), Doulas, nurses, and physicians.

Pioneered a focused approach to maternal and child health, including the establishment of prenatal and post-partum protocols with a specific emphasis on mental health and comprehensive care for perinatal to 2-year-old children. Secured grant funding to effectively test and validate the model within a provider system/health plan, showcasing the initiative's quality and financial Return on Investment (ROI).

Addressed a critical problem statement by identifying and working towards resolving the absence of post-partum protocols, fostering an environment for accurate and honest patient feedback. Successfully navigated trust issues with healthcare representatives, aiming to create a more supportive and comfortable healthcare environment for post-partum mothers in need of in-home support services, day care, and engagement with CHWs. Acknowledged and addressed concerns regarding the fear of retribution, laying the foundation for open and constructive patient-provider conversations.
